INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

For adults

Through the use of various psychotherapy methods and collaborative treatment measures, my clients develop life-changing habits  to help them cope with life’s various obstacles. In our therapy sessions, we’ll work to solve current problems and improve positive thinking and behavior. I will help you “re-frame” your reactions and provide you with valuable tools to cope with life’s stresses.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

For children and adolescents

I have been conducting individual therapy with children and adolescents for over 35 years.  Early in my career,

I worked in a child and adolescent clinic and, later, in college counseling centers.  The first step of the therapeutic process is to assess the treatment needs of the client.   We then focus on developing skills to deal with the difficulties the child is experiencing.  When working with younger children, I work collaboratively with their parents in order to facilitate changes at home.  While adolescents often need more privacy, I continue to coordinate with families in order to achieve our goals.

Psychological assessments and psycho-educational evaluations are an effective way to answer a variety of questions.  For children and adolescents, evaluations often focus on issues related to school performances, learning differences, or attention difficulties. The results of the assessment are used in educational planning and in planning for interventions.  For adolescents and young adults, evaluations often address documentation of learning differences and requirements for educational accommodations.

When I am conducting an assessment, my first goal is to establish a comfortable working relationship with the family and child.  I then focus on evaluating both an individual's strengths and their areas of weakness, developing a comprehensive plan for intervention.  After the assessment process is complete, I am happy to work with the family as they put the plan into action.
